HOW YOU CAN HELP SUPPORT LEARNING

  • Work with your child in a quiet, calm setting.
  • Read the directions to your child.
  • Work with your child to create patterns of simple movements, such as clapping and tapping or opening and closing hands.
  • Use your childs building toys, such as blocks, to assemble color or shape patterns together. Remember to use the word pattern and to specifically state the pattern that you are creating. For example, Lets make a red/yellow pattern with blocks. Lets make a line that goes red, yellow, red, yellow. What comes next?
  • Create a simple shape or color pattern using your childs toys, then ask him or her to predict what shape or color will come next.
